Honorees
Meet our Dallas Honorees
Brady Forejt is excited to be the 2024 Dallas Take Steps Teen Honored Hero! Brady was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in 2020 when he was 11 years old. After some trial and error to find the right treatment, Brady now receives biologic infusions every 6 weeks. This treatment plan keeps his symptoms under control and allows him to live a full life as an active teen. Brady and his family have been participants in Take Steps since 2020 and Brady attends Camp Oasis each summer. Both of these activities have been instrumental in helping Brady form a sense of community and find people who understand what he is going through. As the Teen Honored Hero, Brady wants to help provide that same sense of community to other children and teens who are living with IBD.

At the age of 26 and pregnant with her second child, Tyler began to experience alarming symptoms: mucous, stomach cramps, and eventually blood in her stool. Through several doctor visits, blood tests, and an un-sedated flex sigmoidoscopy, her diagnosis was confirmed in Feb 2016: Ulcerative Colitis. This revelation marked the beginning of a challenging yet transformative journey in managing and understanding this chronic condition. In late 2018, after exhausting various treatments without success, she underwent a total colectomy with end ileostomy. Although it was not a cure, it brought a significant improvement in Tyler's quality of life, allowing her to regain a sense of control and normalcy.
For Tyler, Take Steps is a testament to the power of community and the strength that comes from shared experiences and efforts in battling IBD. She is proud to be this year's Adult Honored Hero!
